Fitbit has already revealed a number of new devices this year including the Versa smartwatch and Ace wearable which is aimed at kids.

Now there’s another big update arriving on wrists with the launch of the new Fitbit Charge 3.

This latest fitness tracker brings a swathe of extra features to this popular range including improved workout tracking and a new, more curvaceous, design.

The new look includes an aluminium build, Gorilla Glass 3 and softer angles which should help it to be more comfortable to wear.

And to make it even more attractive Fitbit has even lowered price compared to the previous Charge 2.

Fitbit says this new charge is their best tracker to date and, from the spec sheet, there’s certainly plenty here for those wanting to keep an eye on their health and daily activity levels.

Firstly, there’s a new touchscreen OLED display that is nearly 40 percent larger and brighter than its predecessor, offering a more intuitive experience with easy access to your most important information.

This should make it much easier to interact with the wearable and make all of your data more visible even in bright sunlight.

Fitbit has also updated the on-screen interface with cleaner graphics and improved animations aimed at motivating the user.

And it’s not just a more interactive screen that should help get people moving as the Charge 3 now includes refined fitness features including GPS and run detection with auto stop.

Fitbit also reckons it can now automatically interpret what exercise you are performing and track the data accordingly.

Goal-based settings are also a big new addition with wearers able to choose from over 15 exercise modes like bike, swim, run, weights and yoga; set a goal for calories burned, distance or duration, and see real-time stats, progress and celebrations on the device when you reach your goal.

Plus, with a better resistance to water of up to 50m, this latest Fitbit can check your lengths, distance and pace in the pool.

Along with watching over your fitness regime this new wearable also monitors your heart 24-hours a day and it will also check how much sleep you are getting.

This nighttime monitoring will bring daily insights including sleep stages, REM and how light/deep sleep you are getting.

One of the reasons it can perform this endless tracking is its battery life, with Fitbit stating the new Charge 3 can go for around a week without needing a refill.

Something else that will please fans of these devices are the new smartphone notifications which now feature quick replies so you don’t need to grab your phone to respond to messages.

This feature will only be available on Android at launch and there’s no word on an iOS update just yet.

As well as answering texts, the Charge 3 can take calls and view your daily events via the calendar.

There’s also alarms, timers and weather reports which can all be viewed on the bigger display and Fitbit says a bunch of popular compatible apps will be launching soon.

The Fitbit Charge will go on sale later this year with prices starting from £129.99.

A Special Edition model, with Fitbit Pay, will also launch with a price of £149.99.

The device will come in Rose Gold or Graphite and interchangeable straps will be available with Sports, Woven and Leather designs all available at launch.

UK retailers include Amazon, Argos, Currys PC World, John Lewis and Shop Direct will be stocking the tracker.
