How the Kia customer stole Christmas

In the Grinch’s sack: A 4K TV and Yeti coolers

Police say the Grinch who stole Christmas lights, a flat-screen TV and expensive coolers from a Florida dealership showroom this month turned out to be a man who had recently bought a vehicle at the store and decided to go back for more.

The suspect, identified by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office as 52-year-old Richard White, is accused of using a Hyundai vehicle to push the doors of Galeana Kia down, while employees of the Fort Myers dealership lay asnooze in their town.

He allegedly made three trips to the store over three hours at least, taking a 4K TV and six Yeti coolers ready for customers’ holiday feasts. Also missing from the showroom after that night: boxes of Christmas decorations and lights.

Investigators soon tracked down White, who had not gotten far.

They said he also stole a salesperson’s wallet — while buying his car.
