Liverpool will go toe-to-toe with French heavyweight PSG in a mouth-watering Champions League clash at Anfield this evening.
Today’s fixtures mark the first day’s worth of football for the new Champions League season and the Reds’ game tonight is arguably the pick of the bunch.
Both Liverpool and PSG have won every competitive game they have played so far for the 2018/19 season.
PSG have won five Ligue 1 games out of five and are currently in top position in France’s top flight.
While Liverpool have also won five league games out of five, and are in second place in the Premier League behind Chelsea on goal difference.
Liverpool PSG will, besides being a battle of two European heavyweights, also be a clash between two ex-Borussia Dortmund managers.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made his name at Dortmund, where he won the Bundesliga title twice and reached a Champions League final.
While PSG manager Thomas Tuchel took over from Klopp at the Westfalenstadion and during his time there won the DFB-Pokal – the German cup.

Liverpool will be hoping Roberto Firmino will be fit for today’s clash against PSG.
The Brazilian scored 10 times in the Champions League last season during Liverpool’s campaign which saw them finish runners-up to Real Madrid.
But the 26-year-old suffered an eye injury in a clash with Jan Vertonghen during Liverpool’s win over Tottenham on Saturday.

Speaking yesterday about Firmino’s chances of playing against PSG, Klopp said: “If the game was today, no chance.
“It’s good news that it will be close. We will see how it develops.“
The German manager added: “When we saw the pictures we were all shocked and when we had first contact with him after hospital it was a was big relief.
“It is painful. No-one wants that, but he will be fine. We don’t know exactly when. It is another 30 hours until the game so we will see how it develops.”

PSG meanwhile will have two of their star players – Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr – fresh for tonight’s clash against Liverpool.
Mbappe missed PSG’s 4-0 win against Saint-Etienne on Friday due to suspension while Neymar was rested.
Klopp said: “”He [Neymar] was rested at the weekend so he will be 100 per cent fresh for us and we will see the full Neymar package and we have to cope with that.”
While Tuchel, ahead of tonight’s game, said his appointment at PSG was not dependent on him delivering a Champions League trophy.

He said: “No-one has told me this, in all the talks, that I have to win this otherwise I didn’t do my job right.
“If anyone had told me that, I wouldn’t have signed the contract.
“If we judge ourselves only by the biggest goal in European football, the possibility of a big disappointment is high.
“Why should we do this?
